How to open a BMO account for a non-Canadian spouse (no PR card, no SIN needed)

Answer: You can just open a join account for her — add your wife to your existing account.
To add your wife to your existing account, just visit any BMO Bank of Montreal branch to complete and sign the necessary forms. When visiting the branch, please ensure you both bring two pieces of personal identification (at least one piece of photo ID is preferred if possible). Once your account has been made joint, your wife can request a Debit Card in their name.
As your wife’s SIN has expired and she doesn’t have a PR card, she can take any of the following accepted ID:
Primary piece of ID:
— Birth Certificate
— Passport
A secondary piece of ID can be:
— ATM Card
— Credit Card
— Foreign Driver’s License
